A community is in mourning after a fatal shooting claimed the life of 15-year-old Rene Graham in Ladbroke Grove, London. The tragic incident occurred in Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park around 7.20pm on Sunday, July 21, sparking a murder investigation led by local authorities.
Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, overseeing the investigation for Kensington and Chelsea, expressed deep condolences to the victim’s family and assured the public of the police’s commitment to solving this case. “A young boy has tragically lost his life, and our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this devastating time,” Jessah stated. We will continue to provide them with specialist support as we work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”
The Metropolitan Police are appealing to the public for any witnesses or anyone with footage of the event to come forward. The park was hosting a community event at the time of the shooting, increasing the likelihood that attendees may have captured important evidence on their phones or cameras. We are particularly interested in any photos or videos that could assist our detectives in piecing together the events that led to this tragedy,” added Jessah.
The police presence in the area has been heightened in response to community concerns and to provide reassurance while the investigation continues. Jessah highlighted the importance of community cooperation during this time, urging residents to approach officers with any information or concerns they might have.
Four men have been arrested in connection with the shooting—two aged 21, and the others aged 20 and 25. They remain in custody as the investigation progresses. An earlier report erroneously noted that six individuals had been detained.
A crime scene is still active in the park, and the police have set up a Public Portal for evidence submission.
