Police are currently investigating reports of non-recent sexual offending at a former school in Lindfield and are appealing for any information that may aid their enquiries. The allegations pertain to incidents of sexual abuse that occurred at Tavistock and Summerhill School, known during the 1960s as Tavistock Hall, between the years 1962 and 1970.

The school, which has since closed, is the focal point of these historical allegations. Sussex Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made as of now, but investigations are ongoing. Officers are urging anyone who attended the school during this period or who may have information relevant to the case to come forward.

“But a full and thorough investigation will be carried out to understand the full facts.

“We are asking anyone who has any information that could help the investigation to report it to us online or via 101, quoting Operation Melford. It does not matter how long ago an incident took place – we will believe you, we will support you and we will investigate fully.”
