Man wanted for brutal pub assault in Islington – Help us trace the suspect

Officers have released an image of a man they are seeking to trace after a brutal assault at a pub in Islington. The incident, which took place on April 26, 2023, left a 33-year-old man with life-changing facial injuries.

The victim was in the pub on Tollington Park at around 8.30pm, watching a football match. A brief verbal altercation occurred between the victim and another man, which quickly escalated. Allegedly, the assailant produced a knife and slashed the victim’s face, causing a deep laceration from his left cheek to his lip.

Paramedics were called to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. While the injuries are not life-threatening, the victim is still undergoing treatment for the severe facial wound.

The suspect managed to flee before the arrival of the police. Authorities have conducted extensive investigations but have yet to identify the assailant. As a result, they are now seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the man pictured in the released image.

Detective Constable Danitza Iniesta, from the local policing team in Islington, made a plea to the public for any information that could help solve the case. She emphasised that the pub was crowded with people watching the Arsenal v Manchester City game that night. According to Iniesta, the victim and the suspect had interacted peacefully throughout the evening before the violent incident.

If anyone was present at the pub that evening or recognises the man in the image, they are urged to contact the police immediately. Valuable information or material can be shared by calling 101 or tweeting @MetCC, quoting CAD 6799/26Apr.
