In the former pit village of Grimethorpe, Barnsley, more than 100 homes have been evacuated after an Army bomb squad was deployed in response to a police operation. Residents in the affected area were swiftly evacuated, with authorities cautioning that they might be displaced for up to 48 hours. Barnsley Council opened a rest centre at St. Luke’s Church to accommodate households without alternative accommodation options.
