Police Appeal for Information After Suspected Spiking Incident in Rochdale Pub – UKNIP

Police in Rochdale are urging the public to come forward with any information related to a suspected spiking incident that occurred at The Dressers Arms pub in Heywood on Friday, August 4, 2023, around 10pm. The incident has raised concerns about safety during nights out, prompting officers to take action to protect the community.

Police are seeking to speak with a black male whom they believe could provide valuable insights into the incident. Described as approximately in his mid-20s, of slim build, with short black hair, the man was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Authorities hope that speaking with this individual might aid their ongoing investigation.

The incident involved a female victim who was approached by an unknown man at the bar. Subsequently, she began experiencing feelings of dizziness and illness. The following morning, the victim discovered an unexplained mark on her thigh, resembling an injection mark, which she had not noticed the previous night. The distressing experience has led to increased vigilance among the community.

Detective Inspector Sam Taylor, of GMP’s Rochdale Criminal Investigation Department, emphasised the importance of maintaining alertness during nights out while having fun. Operation Lioness, a summer initiative, aims to protect and support those on a night out, with additional patrols of uniformed and plainclothes officers in hotspots across Greater Manchester.

Authorities are urging anyone who was present at The Dressers Arms pub during the incident to come forward with any information they may have witnessed. Witnesses or anyone with information are urged to contact police at 101, quoting log number 0169 of 06/08/23. Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.

Police stress the importance of reporting suspicious activities to ensure community safety and the timely response of officers. Victims or witnesses are encouraged to report any relevant information, helping authorities take appropriate action against such incidents. In emergencies, the public is reminded to always dial 999 for immediate assistance.
