Portsmouth EOD Bomb squad called to the West Wight

An EOD team from Portsmouth and a The Neeldes coastguard search and rescue team have been scambled to West Wight this afternoon (Sunday). The specialist were mobilsed following the discovery of piece of unexploded ordnance that has washed a shore on to Totland beach. The Needles Coastguard search and Rescue Team were tasked to the area on Saturday following a call from a concerned dog walker who made the discovery. A cordon has been erected and the Navy expert and the coastguard have returned this evening to make the device safe. More to follow
