Specialist Firearms Officers Were Quickly Mobilised, Along With National Police Air Service, To Trace The Two Men

Police have detained a man on suspicion of possession of a firearm after stopping a bus in Harrow.

At approximately 11.26hrs on Wednesday, 30 September, police were called to a report of two men discharging a firearm in Roxeth Recreation Park, Harrow.

The two men, believed to be in their thirties, then left the park.

Specialist firearms officers were quickly mobilised, along with National Police Air Service, to trace the two men described. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area using CCTV.

At approximately 12.17pm, officers located a pair, who appeared to match the description of the two suspects, boarding a bus in Eastcote Lane.

Three minutes later, specialist armed officers stopped the bus in Northolt Road, Harrow, before boarding it.

Two males were detained and searched.

One man, believed to be aged in his thirties, was searched. A suspected firearm was recovered. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. He remains in custody. Another man was detained and searched. Nothing was found.

At this time we do not believe the firearm was discharged on the bus, nor are we aware of any injuries sustained during this incident.

Enquiries are ongoing.
