The man was arrested yesterday (2 July) following the discovery of a seriously injured man on the pavement outside a property on Manchester Road at around 5:10am. The victim, believed to be in his 20s, later died in hospital.
A broad search of the scene, which meant that Manchester Road had to be cordoned off, has now been significantly scaled back.

Members of the public will notice ongoing police activity, but the road is now open to traffic.

We appreciate the disruption that this will have had for those living in the area and I would like to thank them for their patience and support while this important work has been carried out.”

  • Seen or heard anything suspicious
  • Dashcam or CCTV footage
