The young girl sustained serious injuries and underwent surgery; she is now in stable condition. The 34-year-old man suffered potentially life-changing injuries, according to Superintendent Owen Renowden.

A 32-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital as a precaution but was not physically injured.

Arrest and Investigation

A 22-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody. The investigation is ongoing as police seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

Community Concerns

The shooting occurred near Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park, where a 15-year-old boy, Rene Graham, was fatally shot at a community event in July. The proximity of these violent incidents has heightened local fears about gun crime in the area.

Official Responses

Kensington and Chelsea Council leader Elizabeth Campbell condemned the attack, stating:

“It is beyond belief that a child has been caught in the crossfire of violence on the streets of London once again. It has never been more urgent for the Mayor of London to act fast and lay out clear plans with the police to tackle gun crime and stop this horror.”

Superintendent Renowden assured residents that police patrols have been increased in the area to provide reassurance and support the ongoing investigation.

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are urging anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses can contact police by calling 101 and quoting CAD5238/24NOV. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

The local community remains on edge as authorities work to address the surge in violent crime in the area.
