Unexploded Ordnance Found Near River Arun

 

An operation to safely remove unexploded historic ordnance discovered near the River Arun in Arundel has been successfully completed.

The ordnance was found on Friday, May 2, near the bridge at Queen Street.
Emergency services quickly established a precautionary cordon around the area while awaiting the arrival of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

The EOD specialists have now safely dealt with the device, and the cordon has been lifted.

Access routes to Arundel via Queen Street, the High Street, and the Causeway are fully reopened, with no further restrictions in place.

Photos of the operation were shared locally, with thanks extended to the public for their cooperation during the disruption.

Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing risk to the public.
