A serious road incident involving an ice cream van and a cyclist occurred on Seabrook Road in Hythe at approximately 5:55 PM on Sunday, 28 July 2024. The collision has prompted a police investigation, with authorities now calling for witnesses to come forward.
The ice cream van, which was headed towards Folkestone, collided with the cyclist who was travelling in the direction of Hythe at the time. The cyclist, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident and was subsequently transported to a London hospital. Fortunately, the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Following the incident, a 48-year-old man from Dover, who was driving the van, has been arrested in connection with the collision. He is currently in custody while further enquiries are conducted.
The Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is leading the investigation and is urgently appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision. They are particularly interested in anyone who may have dashcam footage that could provide further insights into the circumstances leading up to the incident.
