Woman detained by Police in Ryde after falling into Traffic

Police have been called to Union Street in Ryde on the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Sunday ). The incident involved a drunk woman who suffers with mental health issues, She  was seen falling around in the road. A concerned member of the public tried to help the woman who started shouting abuse before falling into the road. The woman then stood in front of vehicles causing an obstruction .  Local youths who had gathered  started to throw stones at the  woman that heated and aggravated the situation  making  it harder for the Police. Police have detained the woman for her own safety and to prevent a further breach of the peace an ambulance has also been sent to the scene.  Officers have now moved the woman on to the green area opposite Union Street.
