Police have released a CCTV image as part of their investigation into a bag theft and subsequent fraud case in Sittingbourne. The incident occurred on Harold Road at approximately 11:15 am on Monday, January 29, 2024.
The victim, an elderly woman in her 80s, reported that she was approached by a man who allegedly forcibly grabbed her bag before quickly fleeing the scene. Although the bag was later recovered nearby, the purse was missing.
Reports indicate that the suspect used the victim’s bank cards for fraudulent transactions at local shops later the same day.
Investigators from the Swale Victim-Based Crime Team are now seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest captured in a CCTV image. Individuals who recognize the person are urged to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
