Draycote Water Closed as Search Underway for Man Who Fell from Boat

Emergency services have launched a major search operation at Draycote Water, near Rugby, after a man reportedly fell into the reservoir from a boat on the afternoon of Thursday, 29 May 2025.

Warwickshire Police confirmed that the area is currently closed to the public as officers and rescue teams work to locate the missing man.

What Happened

According to police, the incident occurred earlier this afternoon when the man went overboard while on a boat on Draycote Water. A multi-agency search effort involving police, fire crews, and other emergency personnel is ongoing.

The man’s family is being supported by specially trained officers during the search.

Public Urged to Stay Away

Warwickshire Police have issued a strong plea for the public not to approach the area, warning that doing so could distract search teams and hinder the operation.

“We would ask that the public do not attempt to go near the area at this time as doing so could distract searchers,” the force said in a public statement.

Site Closed, Updates to Follow

Access to Draycote Water has been suspended until further notice, and police have thanked the public for their patience and understanding.

Updates will be issued in due course, authorities confirmed.
