Essex Police have officially confirmed that the body discovered in Ingatestone on New Year’s Day belongs to Katherine Corrigan, a 27-year-old woman who had been reported missing from the Broomfield area of Chelmsford on July 22.
Since Katherine’s disappearance, an extensive and dedicated investigation has been carried out by Essex Police, involving the efforts of numerous officers from across the force, as well as the Essex Search and Rescue Team. The investigation also included the review of hours of CCTV footage and collaboration with neighbouring police forces and the British Transport Police.
On New Year’s Day, a member of the public reported the discovery of a woman’s body in Little Hyde Lane, Ingatestone.
Inspector Sam Girdlestone expressed his condolences, saying, “My thoughts, and those of everyone at Essex Police, are with Katherine’s family at this incredibly difficult time. This is not the outcome that anyone was hoping for, and we are continuing to support her family during this tragic period.
Essex Police has determined that Katherine’s death is not being treated as suspicious. They are now preparing a file for the coroner to further investigate the circumstances surrounding her passing.
The news brings closure to a lengthy and arduous search for Katherine Corrigan, but it also serves as a reminder of the dedication and relentless efforts of law enforcement and search teams in the pursuit of answers and resolution for those affected by such tragedies.
