A German shepherd named Athena is missing after fleeing the scene of a motorway crash on the M1 that tragically killed another family dog, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred at around 6.45pm on Saturday, 15 March, near junction 33 of the M1 in South Yorkshire, when a vehicle carrying three dogs was involved in a collision with another car.
Anyone with information or sightings is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.
