Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault that occurred early on Wednesday morning, September 11, in Aldershot.
The incident took place around 4am on Shoe Lane, near the Basingstoke Canal. A woman in her 40s was reportedly attacked and forced into a blue Renault by a man known to her. She was driven around the Aldershot area before being returned to Shoe Lane at approximately 5:30am.
The woman then attempted to seek help from motorists on Farnborough Road (A325) and suffered minor injuries. She was later located safely.
A 56-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of assault, false imprisonment, and kidnap. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Detective Constable Chelsea Adamson has assured the public that the individuals involved were known to each other and that there is no ongoing risk to the community.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen the woman or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward with information.
