Health Officials Warn of Risks to Vulnerable Groups Amid Drop in Temperatures

Londoners are being urged to prepare for freezing temperatures after the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued a Yellow Cold-Health Alert for the capital. The warning will remain in place for five days, starting from 9 AM on Friday, February 7, until 9 AM on Tuesday, February 11.

The alert, issued in partnership with the Met Office, warns that the sudden drop in temperatures is likely to place additional strain on health services while increasing the risks for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, young children, and those with pre-existing medical conditions.

Health Risks and Precautionary Measures

The UKHSA has cautioned that cold weather can have serious health consequences, particularly for those with conditions such as asthma, heart disease, and respiratory illnesses.
