Chaos hit New Romney’s High Street late Thursday night as a hooded vandal launched a ruthless hammer attack on two local shops.

Smash and Grab Mayhem

A man armed with a club hammer went on a destructive spree around 11 pm on March 26, targeting Drive Motor Spares and Dearman Bartlett Independent Funeral Directors. The attacker, clad in black jogging bottoms with white stripes and white trainers, smashed windows at both businesses.

He smashed every front and side window at the funeral directors’ and shattered large front-facing windows at the motor spares shop. The wreckage has left both businesses suffering estimated damage of around £50,000.

Businesses Stand Firm Amid £50k Damage

Despite the devastation, both shops confirmed they remain open for business and are desperate for any leads that can help catch the culprit.

Police Hunt Vandal After Late-Night Mayhem

“Officers were called shortly after 11pm to reports of a disturbance involving criminal damage. The man fled the scene on foot,” said Kent Police.
