Sussex Police are appealing for information after a ten-year-old boy was bitten by two dogs while walking with his mother in Abbot’s Wood, Polegate, on the afternoon of Monday, 26 May 2025.
The incident occurred around 2:40pm, when two **small dogs—possibly Jack Russell or Patterdale Terriers—**attacked the child, causing bite wounds to his legs. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
Police Seeking Owner of Dogs Involved
Officers are working to trace the owner of the dogs, who reportedly left the scene without providing her details. She is described as:

Inspector Anthony Oakensen said:
“We understand that this was a distressing incident for the child and his mum. Fortunately, he is now recovering at home.
We are exploring a number of lines of inquiry and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
We are keen to understand the full circumstances and would encourage the woman involved to assist with our enquiries.”
