A murder investigation has been launched following a death in Rotherham – UKNIP

Detectives confirmed this evening (Monday, June 27) that a murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Rotherham last night, and a second person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A forensic post mortem examination conducted today determined that the victim died as a result of a stab wound.
A 24-year-old man was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of murder. The 25-year-old man arrested earlier today is still being held by police.
At 7.16 p.m. yesterday (Sunday, June 26), emergency services were called to Herringthorpe Valley Road in Rotherham after a pedestrian collided with a car. As officers arrived on the scene to conduct preliminary investigations, they received reports that the individual had been stabbed.
This investigation remains in its early stages,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mick Hakin, who is in charge of the investigation. “We are moving at a fast pace to understand the circumstances surrounding what happened last night.”
“Right now, we have two people in custody on suspicion of murder.”
While we have identified the victim, who is an adult male rather than a child, as had been speculated on social media, we are awaiting formal identification and are assisting the victim’s family with specially trained officers.
“I understand that this type of incident is shocking and distressing for the local community, and officers will be working in the area for some time as our investigation continues.” I’d advise anyone thinking about posting images or videos of this incident online to consider the significant distress and upset this could cause the victim’s family and loved ones, and to refrain from doing so.”
