A21 Closed Between A2100 and A28 Due to Fallen Tree

The A21 has been closed in both directions between the A2100 (Johns Cross) and A28 (Baldslow) in Kent following a fallen tree that has also affected nearby power lines.

The incident has prompted a response from Kent Police and the Fire and Rescue Service, who are working to manage the situation and ensure public safety.

Diversion Routes

Drivers are advised to follow diversion routes marked by hollow symbols:

  • Southbound (Hollow Circle):
Diverted traffic will exit the A21 onto the B2089 Park Lane and travel east toward Cripps Corner. From there, it will continue on the B2089 toward the junction with the A28 at Broad Oak Brede, then turn west onto the A28 toward Hastings, rejoining the A21 at Ebdens Hill.
  • Northbound (Hollow Square):
Diverted traffic will exit the A21 at Ebdens Hill onto the A28 and follow the reverse of the southbound route.

Travel Advice

Delays are expected on approaches to the closure and along the diversion routes. Motorists are urged to:

  • Plan ahead: Allow extra journey time or consider alternative routes.
  • Check for updates: Visit www.trafficengland.com, use travel apps, or contact the National Highways 24/7 helpline at 0300 123 5000.

Safety Warning

Authorities are also reminding drivers to remain cautious in the area due to the impact on nearby power lines and potential weather-related hazards.

This is a developing situation, and further updates will be provided as the road clearance progresses.
