Storm Darragh Shuts QEII Bridge and Disrupts Travel Across Kent

The southbound carriageway of the QEII Bridge at the Dartford Crossing has been closed as a precautionary measure in response to strong winds. This closure will affect traffic travelling in a southbound direction.

To accommodate the closure, all vehicles wishing to travel southbound/clockwise on the M25 will be diverted through the east bore tunnel. It is important to note that the northbound crossing traffic will be limited to using the west-bore Dartford tunnel only. Additionally, there is a height restriction of 4.8 meters (15.9 feet) for vehicles using the west-bore Dartford tunnel.

Drivers of vehicles exceeding this height limit are advised to seek an alternative route via the clockwise M25.

If your planned route is impacted by this bridge closure, it is recommended that you allow extra time for your journey. Planning, including considering alternative routes or delaying your travel, may also be prudent.
