Following a serious assault near the East India, DLR station, a crime scene has been established.
Officers were called shortly before midnight on Wednesday evening.
They have now established a number of cordons and have also cordoned off John Smith Mews.
A mangle dark-coloured VW Golf with rear wheel damage and a large dent has been left, abandoned in the street after colliding with a lamp stand. The remains of the lamp stand lays near by.
The driver of the vehicle is believed to have fled. Met police specialist search dogs were called in to conduct an area Ana scene search for drugs and weapons.
