Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a house fire on Ingram Road in Thornton Heath
Half of the second floor was destroyed by fire and part of the roof and ground floor were also damaged in the blaze in the three-storey mid-terraced house. Around 20 people from the neighbouring houses were evacuated. There are no reports of any injuries.
One of the Brigade’s 32 metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as an observation tower. The drone team also assisted by providing an aerial view of the incident.
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received five calls about the fire.
The Brigade was called at 0042 and the incident was under control by 0352. Crews from West Norwood, Norbury, Woodside, Croydon and Tooting fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
