An explosion caused by a high-voltage underground cable surge rocked Ladbroke Road on the evening of Tuesday, 20 May, injuring two people and prompting a swift response from emergency services.
What Happened
At around 9pm, a sudden electrical surge caused a cable beneath the street to rupture violently, blasting debris into the air and leaving a visible crater on the road surface. Two individuals caught in the blast were reportedly thrown backwards by the force of the explosion.
