Family Of Teenager Who Died In Road Traffic Collision Expresses Gratitude For Support

The family of Jessica Baker, a 15-year-old who tragically lost her life in a road traffic collision on the M53 in Wirral, have extended their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their kind comments and offers of support since the tragic accident.

Jessica, a talented and dedicated climber, had been competing across the UK for the past seven years, representing both the North West and Wales. She was passionate about all sports but had a particular love for indoor and outdoor climbing. She had chosen GCSE PE as one of her subjects and was planning to pursue a career in sport. Later this year, she was due to begin her coaching qualifications to work towards this goal.

Despite her young age, Jessica had a remarkable ability to connect with people of all ages. She often provided support and guidance to fellow climbers, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

To honour Jessica’s memory, an online ‘MuchLoved’ page has been created where people can share their pictures, videos, and thoughts about Jessica. The family has also requested that donations be made in Jessica’s memory to “Climbers Against Cancer,” a charity that held a special place in her heart.

Detective Sergeant Andy Roper, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, expressed his condolences to both Jessica’s family and the family of the bus driver, Stephen Shrimpton, who also lost his life in the incident. He assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with new information to come forward.

The families of the other 57 children involved in the collision have been provided with support and updates on the progress of the investigation. Detective Sergeant Roper expressed gratitude to those who stopped and helped in the immediate aftermath of the tragic incident.

The police investigation will be submitted to the coroner in preparation for an inquest early next year. Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit or reach out to Merseyside Police through social media channels.
