A waste collection vehicle was forced to dump two tonnes of recycling on Bancroft Estate, Bethnal Green, after a fire broke out inside the truck due to a discarded electric bike battery.

The fire, which started while the recycling truck was in operation, was caused by a broken electric bike with multiple batteries improperly disposed of in household waste.
The London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and quickly extinguished the flames, preventing further damage.
