In the early hours of Sunday morning, a significant fire broke out at a flat above a shop on High Road in Chadwell Heath, requiring the response of twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters.
The fire engulfed the entire roof and most of two flats on the first floor. Emergency crews from Ilford, Dagenham, Romford, Hainault, and other nearby fire stations worked to contain the blaze, which was brought under control by 7:29 am.

Residents Escape as Child Hospitalised
Three people were able to leave the building before the London Fire Brigade arrived. All were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews, and a child was taken to the hospital. The extent of the child’s injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Control officers received the first call at 4:06 am, prompting a rapid response to the scene.
