Two Men Jailed for Fatal Stabbing, Two Others Sentenced for Perverting Justice
Four individuals have been sentenced to a total of 48 and a half years in prison following an investigation by Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime officers into the murder of Tyreece Scott in Hounslow.
Murder and Drug Dispute
The court heard that 23-year-old Ben Laing, of De Brome Road, Feltham, and 19-year-old Durra Abdi, of Western Avenue, Acton, were both jailed for 22 years for fatally stabbing 24-year-old Tyreece Scott on Hibernia Road on 16 January 2024.
Laing was also convicted of involvement in drug supply, while Abdi received an additional sentence for possession of a bladed article.
The prosecution revealed that the murder stemmed from a dispute over drug-dealing territories, which ultimately led to the fatal confrontation.
Convictions for Perverting the Course of Justice
Two other individuals were sentenced for perverting the course of justice:
- Reda Mohamed, 24, of Linslade Close, Hounslow, was jailed for four and a half years.
- Morgan Allen, 29, of Reeve Street, Feltham, received a two-year suspended sentence for 18 months.
CCTV and Phone Evidence Led to Arrests
Detectives worked around the clock to track down the suspects, arresting Laing and Abdi at Stansted Airport upon their return to the UK on 19 January.
A meticulous review of CCTV footage linked Abdi to the murder scene, as he was seen carrying the same bag when arrested.
Investigators also examined mobile phone data, uncovering key text messages, website searches, and notes related to the crime. One of the crucial pieces of evidence included searches for “Hounslow stabbing” on Abdi’s phone after the attack.
Police Statement: ‘Drug Dealing Has Devastating Consequences’
Detective Inspector Paul Fagence, who led the investigation, said:
“Drug dealing is an ugly business which has cost Tyreece his life. This case is a tragic reminder of how the supply of drugs has devastating consequences on communities.”
“While there was no evidence to suggest Tyreece knew the defendants, the combination of CCTV, mobile phones, and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) helped us build a compelling case against these individuals.”
“Our thoughts remain with Tyreece’s friends and family. We hope they can now find a level of peace to move forward with their lives.”
Met Police Crackdown on Knife Crime and Drug Gangs
All four defendants were convicted at the Old Bailey on 10 January 2025.
The case forms part of the Met’s ‘A New Met for London’ plan, which prioritizes tackling knife crime and drug-related violence.
