A man was arrested hours after armed police slammed a lockdown on a Swindon street following a tense domestic incident.

Armed Police Storm Whiteman Street

At around 6pm on Sunday (16 November), officers rushed to a terraced house in Whiteman Street, Gorse Hill, near Florence Street. Police swiftly sealed off the entire residential road as armed officers, rifles drawn, focused on the property. Local residents were told to stay indoors while the drama unfolded.

Police entered the home but found no suspect inside. Despite this, firearms officers kept guard overnight and into Monday afternoon. Wiltshire Police later confirmed the man turned himself in at Gablecross Police Station hours after the stand-off. He’s now in custody, facing serious charges including controlling and coercive behaviour, common assault, intentional strangulation, and threats to kill.
