HGV Fire on M6 Between Junctions 1 and 2 Extinguished, No Injuries Reported

Officers from the Warwickshire Operational Policing Unit (OPU) responded to a report of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) on fire on the M6 motorway between Junction 1 and Junction 2. The incident, which occurred earlier today, saw firefighters from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and officials from National Highways: West Midlands collaborating to extinguish the blaze.

Thanks to the prompt and effective response of the emergency services, the fire was successfully put out without any injuries. The recovery operation for the HGV is currently underway, and efforts are being made to minimize disruption to the traffic flow in the area.

In light of this incident, authorities are issuing a reminder to all motorists and professional users of the motorway that the hard shoulder should not be used during such emergencies. Using the hard shoulder can significantly hinder the efforts of emergency responders and delay the resolution of the situation.

Motorists travelling on the M6 between Junctions 1 and 2 are advised to remain cautious and to respect the guidelines regarding the use of the hard shoulder. National Highways: West Midlands has expressed gratitude towards the cooperation and patience of the drivers during this incident and has reiterated the importance of keeping emergency lanes clear for responders.
