Lorry Jack Knives on M27 after Collision with Car Near Southampton Airport
Two Lanes of the M27 Motorway in Hampshire remain closed between junction 7 and 5 as a major clear up operation and investigation is carried out after a lorry carrying a shipping contained jacked knifed near to Southampton Airport in the early hours of this morning. Fire crews used cutting equipment to free one person from the vehicle trapped between the tractor unit and trailer. The person has been taken to hospital by ambulance. Two lanes of the westbound carriage and lane three of the eastbound carriage remain closed as the recovery operation takes place of the lorry. Officers from Hampshire Roads Policing are reporting that there are no delays past the scene at present. Specialists with heavy lifting gear and cranes have been called in from Boarhunt Garage based at Fareham to aid the recovery operation. A large amount of barriers have also been damaged on the central reservation as the truck ploughed into them. Doing their job the barriers stopped the lorry from crossing over into the eastbound carriage way.
