Emergency services are responding to a serious incident at Finsbury Park Station after a person was struck by a northbound Victoria Line train in the Seven Sisters tunnels near Station Place, Islington
The incident, reported at approximately 3.40pm on Sunday 23rd February 2025, involved a person under a train. This has led to mobilising a rapid response teams from British Transport Police (BTP), London Ambulance Service, and London Fire Brigade who are currently on the scene, working to manage the situation and ensure the safety of all passengers.
Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts
Specialist teams from London Fire Brigade are conducting a delicate rescue operation within the Seven Sisters tunnels. According to initial reports, the individual involved was found under the northbound Victoria Line train and remains in critical condition. Paramedics are on-site providing urgent medical care before attempting to safely extract the person from the tracks.

Our officers, alongside paramedics and firefighters, are working to assist the individual involved. Services on the Victoria Line are currently suspended between Warren Street and Walthamstow Central while emergency operations are underway.”
Travel Disruptions and Station Closures
As a result of the incident, the Victoria Line has been suspended between key stations, leading to significant delays across the network. Services on the Piccadilly Line are also experiencing minor delays due to the station closure. Transport for London (TfL) has advised commuters to use alternative routes and has activated mutual ticket acceptance on London Overground, National Rail, and local bus services.
In a statement, TfL said: “Finsbury Park Station is currently closed due to an emergency incident. Victoria Line services are suspended between Warren Street and Walthamstow Central, with severe delays on the rest of the line. Public Reaction and Safety Measures
Travellers at Finsbury Park reported chaotic scenes as emergency alarms sounded and announcements instructed passengers to evacuate. One witness, Mark Reynolds, said: “I was waiting for the Victoria Line when everything stopped. Staff were telling everyone to leave the platform quickly. It was clear something serious had happened.”
Emergency services have cordoned off parts of the station, and Station Place is currently closed to traffic to allow emergency vehicles unrestricted access.

British Transport Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
