A man has tragically died after suffering a medical emergency at Canning Town DLR station on Monday evening, British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the station shortly after 7:30pm on 24 February following reports of a medical incident involving a passenger. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended the scene but, despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the station.
In a statement, British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Canning Town DLR shortly after 7.30pm yesterday (24 February) to reports of a medical emergency. Paramedics also attended; however, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The identity of the man has not yet been released, and his next of kin are being informed.
DLR services were temporarily disrupted while emergency services attended to the incident but resumed normal operation later in the evening.
The incident is being treated as non-suspicious, and the coroner will conduct a formal investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death.
