Sinclair Leahy, a 54-year-old man, was sentenced to six years in prison for committing serious sexual offences on the Isle of Lewis. The verdict was delivered at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday, November 24, 2023.
The offences, which occurred between March 2020 and February 2021, came to light after Leahy was arrested and charged on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Following a thorough investigation, he was found guilty of a series of serious sexual offences against women during a hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, October 16, 2023.
Detective Sergeant Daniel Smith emphasised the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions, stating, “Leahy will now face the consequences of his deplorable behaviour.” He further highlighted the commitment of Police Scotland to combat sexual offences and ensure the safety of individuals and communities.
Acknowledging the severity of sexual crimes, Detective Sergeant Smith encouraged all victims to come forward and seek support.
