Man Rushed to Trauma Centre After Assault at Mile End Underground Station

A man has been hospitalised with a head injury following a violent assault at Mile End Underground station late on Sunday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 11.30pm on 20 July, following reports of an incident at the ticket line within the station on Mile End Road, E3.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) and medical personnel from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) responded to the incident. The victim was treated at the scene for a head injury before being rushed to a major trauma centre. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A spokesperson for LAS said:

“We were called at 11.26pm on Sunday 20 July to reports of an assault on Mile End Road.

We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and a paramedic from our tactical response unit, alongside a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

We treated a man for a head injury and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

Witness Appeal

British Transport Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who saw the incident or may have relevant information is urged to text BTP on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 648 of 20 July.
