Operation Brock Contraflow on M20 to Be Lifted as Overnight Closures Announced

Operation Brock, the contraflow system designed to manage traffic flow on the M20 during disruptions at the Port of Dover, will be lifted this weekend. However, sections of the M20 in Kent will face overnight closures on Sunday night (22 December) into Monday morning (23 December) to facilitate the removal.

Closures and Timing Details:

  • The London-bound section of the M20 will be closed between junctions 9 (Ashford) and 8 (Maidstone).
  • The coastbound section will be closed between junctions 7 (Maidstone/Sittingbourne) and 9 (Ashford).
  • Closures will commence at 8 PM on Sunday, 22 December, and remain in place until 6 AM on Monday, 23 December.

Travel Advice for Drivers:

Clearly signed diversion routes will be set up during the closures. Drivers are advised to follow the diversion signs and avoid relying on Satnav instructions, which may not reflect the diversions.

The lifting of Operation Brock marks a return to normal traffic flow on the M20, improving travel conditions for holiday travelers. However, motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys and allow extra time due to the overnight closures.
