In a recent incident highlighting the seriousness of misconduct on flights, Omar Edwards faced legal consequences for his disruptive and violent behaviour aboard a flight from Jamaica to London Gatwick. Edwards, a 26-year-old labourer from Bow, London, has been sentenced to five months in prison following a series of disturbances on the aircraft, including stealing items from other passengers, vaping, and physically assaulting a cabin crew member.

The events unfolded on a November 12, 2022, flight, where Edwards was seen tampering with passenger belongings and vaping in the toilet, a prohibited action due to the fire risk associated with vape batteries. Despite previous warnings, including on his outbound flight, Edwards escalated his disruptive behaviour, culminating in an assault on a flight attendant.
