Persons Reported As Seventy Firefighters With Ten Engines Battle East London Kebab Shop Blaze That's Spread To Two Other Shops

Firefighters from across London have rushed to the High street Walthamstow in East London this evening (January 23) to tackle a huge blaze that has ripped through a Kebab shop. A number of people have been reported as unaccounted for. As of around 10pm earlier tonight, 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters rushed to Walthamstow High Street to respond to the blaze following reports from a number of members of the public.

An aerial ladder and a Fire rescue unit have also been sent to the incident. A large holding area has been set up on Veron Road where a number of Command units and engines can be seen.

It is unclear and the LFB refused to confirm the number of people they are looking for.
A number of fire crews wearing breathing apparatus with hose reels have been seen entering properties above the blazing building and seen to start carrying out searches with the properties.

The fire is currently spreading a terrace of three commercial units. A kebab shop, phone shop and clothes shop are alight.

Three residents from the flats above the commercial units were led to safety by crews.

Crews from Walthamstow, Leyton, Tottenham and surrounding stations are currently attending the incident.
