Police Appeal for Witnesses After Attempted Robbery in Ramsgate

Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Ramsgate on Thursday, December 19, 2024. A man was arrested in connection with the incident but further witnesses are sought to aid the ongoing investigation.

Incident Overview

At approximately 8:45 pm, the victim was approached by occupants of a silver VW car while on Military Road near Ramsgate Harbour. The suspects allegedly demanded the victim empty his pockets. The victim refused, entered his own car, and drove away.

The silver VW followed the victim’s vehicle dangerously, pursuing him along the route to Margate. During the chase, the window of the victim’s car was damaged. The victim managed to drive to Margate police station, at which point the suspects fled the scene.

Arrest Made

As part of the investigation, police located the suspects’ vehicle and arrested a 20-year-old man from Margate on Sunday, December 29. He has been released on bail while officers continue their inquiries.

Appeal for Witnesses

Detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident in the harbour area of Ramsgate or seen the two vehicles along Bromstone Road in Broadstairs, Connaught Road in Margate, or St Peter’s Road in Margate to come forward.

Police are particularly interested in any dashcam or private CCTV footage from the areas where the vehicles were spotted.
