Detectives investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Newham are appealing for witnesses and anyone with footage to come forward. The incident occurred at approximately 3.44pm on Tuesday, 15 October, on Barking Road, E16.

Emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service, attended the scene, where a Nissan Juke had collided with an 18-year-old female pedestrian and another vehicle. Despite the best efforts of the emergency teams, the young pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Nissan Juke, a 45-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. After receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital, he was taken into police custody, where he remains at this time.

Following the collision, cordons and road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to access the scene. These restrictions have since been lifted, and the area is now open to traffic.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured it on dashcam or mobile phone footage to come forward. Those with information are asked to contact police on 101 or via X (formerly Twitter) @MetCC, quoting CAD 4765/15OCT.
