Bromley Police Station is currently being evacuated after a member of the public brought in an unexploded World War II ordnance, prompting a full-scale emergency response.
The incident began earlier this evening at the High Street police station in Bromley when the potentially volatile device was handed in at the front counter. Officers quickly alerted the Metropolitan Police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, who have been called to assess the threat.
As a safety precaution, the police station and surrounding areas are being cleared of staff and members of the public. Local businesses and pedestrians have also been advised to keep clear of the cordoned zone while bomb disposal teams carry out their operation.
Transport for London has confirmed that bus services through Bromley town centre have been diverted due to the ongoing incident, with delays expected across several routes.
A source for the Met Police confirmed that no injuries have been reported. “We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure public safety. We strongly urge anyone who discovers a suspicious item to call 999 and not attempt to move or transport it.”
