Razia Hussain, 60, has been named as the victim of a fatal car crash in Eastern Avenue, Ilford, which occurred just steps away from her home on Saturday, 7 December.

Incident Details

Emergency services were called to the scene at 4:10 PM, following reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian. Mrs. Hussain was found in cardiac arrest and pronounced dead at 5:01 PM.

A post-mortem examination determined her cause of death as multiple severe injuries.

Coroner’s Inquest

An inquest into Mrs. Hussain’s death was opened at East London Coroner’s Court in Walthamstow by Senior Coroner Graeme Irvine on Wednesday, 18 December. He described the events as a “tragic set of circumstances.”

Mr. Irvine emphasized the importance of understanding the cause of the crash to prevent similar incidents in the future. The final inquest is tentatively set for 2 July 2025, though delays in forensic road collision investigations by the Metropolitan Police Service may affect this timeline.

The coroner has requested an update from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit within 28 days to determine the scope of the police investigation and whether any prosecutions are expected.

The Metropolitan Police Service confirmed that the driver involved stopped at the scene and has not been arrested. The incident is under investigation by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
