Emergency services responded to a van fire on the A249, near Detling, earlier today.

Emergency Response

Kent Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a van on fire at approximately 10:53 am on Tuesday, 8 April 2025. Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, tackled the blaze using a high-pressure hose reel jet.

Crews worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire, and the incident was under control by 11:43 am.

No Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Police Assistance

Kent Police also attended the scene to assist with traffic management and ensure the safety of road users.

Traffic Impact

Drivers were advised to proceed with caution as crews worked to clear the area. The incident caused some delays on the A249, but traffic flow has since returned to normal.
