Three Children Injured After Car Mounts Pavement in West Belfast – Man Arrested

Three children have been taken to hospital after a car ploughed into them as they played on a pavement in west Belfast.

The incident happened at Black Ridge View shortly before 5pm on Sunday (24 August).

Car ‘Took Off’ After Collision

According to police, the vehicle struck two girls and a boy while reversing, before it “then took off”.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and all three children were transported to hospital. Their conditions have not yet been confirmed.

Man Arrested

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of:

  • Driving with excess alcohol in breath

  • Causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving

  • Failing to stop, report, or remain at the scene of an injury collision

He remains in custody this evening, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed.

Police Appeal

Officers are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.

A PSNI spokesperson said:

“Anyone who may have seen the incident or captured it on video is asked to contact police at Woodbourne station on 101.”
