Bembridge lifeboat launched to broken down boat in main shipping lane
The Bembridge lifeboat has been launched on service to assist a sailor in a 7 Meter vessel off Whiteclife Bay near Sandown this afternoon. The lifeboat was scrambled just after 5pm on Monday afternoon after a pan pan call was made to Solent coastguard advising that the vessel had ran into difficulties. It is understood that the crew onboard the lifeboat will assist in trying to repair the engine. If this is unsuccessful the vessel will be towed into a safe location Despite best efforts to fix the engine by members of the volunteer lifeboat crew this has been unsuccessful. The Vessel has since been carried under ow a short distance to Bembridge harbour Last night (Sunday) Yarmouth RNLI launched to assist a yacht off Hurst Point. As Sunday rolled into Monday, Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were called to East Cowes to assist a separate yacht that had got lost in the fog off The Needles and had been escorted to the River Medina by Lymington RNLI.
