A man has died after a brutal stabbing in Alum Rock, Birmingham. The victim, 30-year-old Ali Alshmari, succumbed to his injuries at the scene on Bridge Road.
Woman Injured and Man Arrested
A woman in her 50s also suffered hand injuries but has since been discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man was arrested nearby and remains in custody on suspicion of murder.
Knife Recovered, Investigation Underway
West Midlands Police recovered a knife believed to be the murder weapon. Firearms officers, both in uniform and plain clothes, attended the scene as part of the serious incident response.
The incident, which took place near a local school, is not linked to terrorism. Police met with the community to address concerns and provide reassurance.
Detective Praises Public for Crucial Evidence
“This is a tragic and violent attack which has cost the life of Mr Alshmari, and left a woman injured,” said Detective Superintendent James Munro.
“The public’s response has been fantastic. We’ve received CCTV, dashcam, and mobile footage that’s vital for the investigation.”
“Anyone with information who hasn’t contacted us yet should come forward immediately. We understand how distressing this is and will have extra officers in the area to support the community.”
