Firefighters raced to tackle a blazing fire on a balcony at a six-storey block of flats in Deptford last night.
Six Engines and 40 Firefighters Battle Flames
London Fire Brigade confirmed they sent six fire engines and around 40 firefighters to the scene on Childers Street. The fire erupted shortly after 7pm, quickly lighting up several balconies.
Building Evacuated – No Reported Injuries
The entire building has been evacuated as a precaution. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.
“Several balconies at a six-storey building were alight. The fire is now under control but crews will remain on scene to fully extinguish and dampen down hotspots,” said the Brigade.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
Emergency control officers received 15 calls from witnesses, including railway passengers nearby who spotted the dramatic blaze. The fire was brought under control by 8.04 pm.
The London Fire Brigade continues to investigate the cause of the fire.
