GRIM DISCOVERY Body Found in Canal Near Ryders Green Lock Flight

A stretch of the Walsall canal close to Ryders Green Lock Flight remains shut as police investigate a grim discovery.

Police Confirm Unexplained Death

West Midlands Police revealed a body was found in the water near Ryders Green Road, West Bromwich, just before 11am today.

“At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained,” a police spokesman said. “A forensic post mortem will be carried out in due course to help establish the cause of death.”

Canal & River Trust Responds

The Canal & River Trust said they are working closely with police and promised to reopen the canal and towpath as soon as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation,” the Trust stated.

Emergency Services on Scene

Emergency teams remain at the canal site. The public is urged to steer clear while police enquiries continue.
